Muscovy keepers share your pics!

On the few occasions I let a muscovy hen do as she wishes with her ducklings all died. I don't believe they bring them back to the food enough, I recommend keeping them locked up for a week or two. I have rounded mine up, I take a 5 gallon pail to put ducklings in and a fishing net or a walking stick to block the mom, she should follow the ducklings after you have them, but watch yourself as the mom can be vicious.

I'm almost positive everything is secure but I don't think its actually been tested yet. I'm definitely bringing them in for now and I'd like to move my other girl and babies out of chicken coop too because they are making a mess but I probably shouldn't do it all at once. At least they are safe in there. Getting more of that 1/2 inch wire mesh to take care of any weak spots i might find. Definitely nervous for tonight. She hasn't come into yard yet so going to have to find her and just carry them all in I think. Ugh

Take the bucket along for the ducklings more than likely mama will put up a fight but your bigger. Hopefully if you get the ducklings mama will follow because of the peeping.

Only 4 out of 16 were full yellow with black tail tips. I didn't think I would get barreds out of the bunch. I bought 4 females from a lady named Mandy on here. One of the 4 females was a young 3 month old barred hen. But she just started laying 2-3 days ago. And wasn't housed with this group. Mandy sold me 2 adult females and 2 young females. The 2 young ones are housed in my Juvi Aviary. My two chocolate Muscovy's both male and female is from a different person and I've had them since they were 2 months old. Does this mean my Chocolate male is split barred and possibly the females?

Yes. Black barred if that's the color on the tail

It means your drake is a barred carrier and at least one of your black hens is

We got everyone in. Took a bit to get mom but spent last night and all day and tonight in coop/run. Going to keep them in for now and wee what happens. Found a smallish owl tonight. Could that be eating my babies?
