A friend of mine in Oklahoma sent me some Muscovy eggs in one of her shipments to me. This morning I found a sweet, adorable lil scovy duckling peering at me through the door of the 'bator! Awwww!! Not long after that another hatched out. Pictures to follow...

thanks for the welcome I'm a first time duck owner and was wondering what is the best age to let them free roam. I am very protective of them and always around when they are out and they come in the house at night because their night time area isn't finished yet.

I'm a first time duck owner and was wondering what is the best age to let them free roam. I am very protective of them and always around when they are out and they come in the house at night because their night time area isn't finished yet.

it just depends on you area and how many predators are around. i'll let mine wander around with the mum at 4 weeks, as long as they are too big for the crows to pick up. but, if it's just those two little ones i'd be playing it safe for atleast a few weeks.

oops, I miscounted on the calender. Thought these Muscovy were due to hatch next week. Walked into the kitchen to get a drink last night and heard a baby squeak. Since we only have Muscovy eggs of the same setting, I knew I had made a mistake. Brenae took this photo while I was trying to place hatching baskets in the incubator. So far only one is hatched.

Or so I thought. I rechecked the USPS date for delivery. Today is day 27. No other egg is pipped. The parents are pictured below.I am waiting for a response from the shipper/breeder.

What color is this duckling? Is it pure Muscovy or a mule? What is your thoughts.
