Recently my Muscovy drake picked a fight with the gander and ended up losing ALL of his primary feathers on the left wing and about half of them on the right wing. The ducks fly a lot around the property and I feel pretty bad for him now that he’s flightless. He can’t get on the roost either. It seems that there is almost no circulating info on Muscovy molting patterns but I read that only adult females molt annually, and males never molt except from being induced by diet/extreme temperatures. Muscovy owners, is this true? Also. I know that in chickens a plucked feather will begin to regrow immediately, does this apply to ducks as well?
