Muscovys who has them? and can provide tips?

Yall are lucky. Lol

I went into the coop late lastnight and forgot my new comers fly and almost got taken out by the I assume female of the 2 who was hiding on a roost with the chickens

That's about all the interaction I've gotten lol and the blue one sounds like a dog everytime I come in :idunno

Hopefully that will change a little lol or at least they get to mingle a little better than they are

I haven't read the replies yet, so I might repeat advice already given.
If they are adults, you most likely got a pair. Good or bad I don't know as I have 1 drake and 3 ducks. He seems to favor one more than the others, but he is still young.
My muscovies love mealworms, black fly larvae, and their most favorite right now is corn. My in-laws are harvesting the fields, so I can get as much as I want. I don't let them have a lot. But, they are more interested in the corn than the black fly larvae at this point.
My ducks generally do not like new foods at first because they are leary. However, the corn is like candy to them.
I also feed an all flock feed.
My drake has a lot of personality that's for sure. :)
It will take time for them to get used to everything including you since ducks do not like too many changes.
I would talk softly, give a greeting whenever you see them, throw some treats their way, crouch down with some in hand and let them approach you and eventually they will see that you aren't a threat.
Good luck and enjoy your ducks! :frow

The dog sound is it like a whisper?
My muscovies don't like to be held, but I can give them rubs on their front and neck.
You can trim their wings if needed.

Peas mine love peas lol. Lettuce is a meh, mind you they are nibbling a bit at the pumpkins surprisingly.

Watch they fly, some drakes can when smaller/younger mine always went to large and don't.

They breed like rabbits, so be careful if you don't want to be overrun. They like to kinda bath but generally mine are not into water in a big way nothing like my mallard derived.

If you live where it;s cold watch the facial fleshing, it frostbites just like Roosters ...

Muscovy were my "starter" birds.. at one time a had dozens now less than 20. They are fabulous bug eaters ...

One pretty one i still have at least for today lol(sorry kinda J/k)

It's probably a good thing you have two. My muscovy is certainly the outcast of my flock and even being one of the biggest drakes in my flock is still harassed by even my small mallard hens. Luckily I raised him with other ducklings who play well with him and are accepted by the rest of the flock, but their older ducks know he's different from them and outcasts him. Hopefully this doesn't happen with your flock but figured I'd share incase it can help!

Wow guys! So walked in tonight to collect eggs and almost got hit again. I keep forgetting the female flies. So I'm looking around for the drake and I'm counting chicken butts and I'm looking at the the ducks walking around upset and I start to panic cuz I don't see the second biggest bird I have now. He was laying with the chickens who dont roost on the bars lol so apparently when it's time to sleep no grudges are held. Although they were rather mad when he swung his butt and knocked them off like they were bowling pins :lau

My female hasnt laid since I've had her so no breeding here at least yet

What other questions were there..oh yes I call him my feathered dog but he makes a hah sound like hes panting. At least I'm pretty sure its him and the female has been quiet as far as I know

No frostbite here I'm in florida we may get some frost once in awhile but we never stay cold for long

Someone said mice?!?! What!! Well that's probably good. When the construction is done around their coop the yard will be expanding to a side of the property that has had things sitting in it for years and alot of brush to go through I just have to figure out how to set up a poultry net
