Mushroom foragers

I don't like the cold unless it snows

X2! At least the snow makes it pretty.

Yes, send it, our ponds are drying up and we are in such a drought, neighbors creeks are dry so they have to take water out to the cows. not to mention no one got a second cut this summer, so hay is at a premium.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. If any of us could send some your way, we would!

I never complain about rainy days any more. That water is pretty important!
This times 1000!

We've been in a drought for a while and every single drop is precious. The farmers (and mushroom hunters!) all cherish ANY rain or snow, even a tiny bit. All that snow up on the mountains helps the mushrooms, not just the crops, as well as the trees, grasses and forbs. You might see others grumbling about having to shovel the driveway while the farmers and mushroomers are all perversely happy about it.

Hi folks,

I've got a bunch of mushrooms sprouting up on built-up straw on soil behind my roo kennel. Anyone know what they might be? Hoping I don't have to keep ripping them out to prevent hen poisoning....

Sorry, not a wild mushroom hunter so not sure if I'm passing along helpful images....

@All Ball so are they ok? I'm new to this world and since no rain = no mushrooms, even looked under cow patties. nothing, but what I saw and posted earlier. I told my son I wanted a Mushroom hunting book for Christmas.

Hi katsdar - I wouldn't bank on my results, without taking a sample to an expert- but I've seen that my chickens don't like the mushrooms - I saw my roo accidentally pick up a piece and drop it quickly - so I figure I can relax my efforts to remove them all when they are popping up all over the place after any sprinkle. I am lucky - in this part of California we are getting rain. Best wishes to you for cloudy skies!
