BC , I would love to go up and hunt there, but I really need to take these youngsters to Iowa, I paid for an import permit to Iowa, so I should use it.

If I do not get the "cages" made on my trailer, I will give you a call. Is your number still the same?

I'm thinking it's the smarter move. It's rained up here but I think the clay/dirt a little deeper down is dry and dusty. The mushrooms that are popping up are tiny and few and far between. Might be a waste of petro to come up unless you have chicken chat with Jerry in mind.
 
I bought a farm that just so happens to have a nice little morrel patch on it. I don't eat mushrooms of any sort, but my dad and uncle are super excited about the morrels. Last year my dad got 2 baseball caps full of morrels off of that spot and even managed to get some growing in his yard from the farm, so he can pick some right next to the porch when they are in season.
