Mushroom foragers

Pics
We had homemade beef veggie soup, with our own beef ( well, kind of our own, we owned him from the farm we bought him at until he got to the locker plant.)

Our own veggies from the garden and puffballs I picked and dried.

The puffballs really gave it a good earthy taste!

Look up velvet shank mushroom Ralphie . It is said to be good as seasoning . I have seen them many times . Just not into seasoning mushrooms yet .

Jerry, one of the books said is grows in winter even! I wonder if they meant here.

I have these growing in a box elder tree, right out of the socket where a branch use to grow.

sorry the pictures are so poor, any idea what they are?

Oyster . There are more than one species . Found those just like that on box elder before . FYI a long pole with a big putty knife taped to it is handy for harvesting .

there was at least three giant goodies too, about the size of our palm

I went for an hour walk in a white oak forest yesterday. I was hoping for some late season chantereles , hens or chickens.

I saw not chickens. I found one hen that died about 3 weeks ago, it was nothing but a dried up shell of half mushy stuff..

I found a few interesting ones so in keeping with the rules of the OP. I will be posting them one at a time for help Id'ing..

The first one was growing on the base of a dead stump, I can not tell if it was on the wood or the ground next to it, it was that close. I thought it was a Bolete, I am not sure now.

It was brownish red on the top and grew on a very short fat stalk. When I picked it the first thing I noticed was the pink on the stem. It was bright.

The meat was pink and very stringy, it looked almost like a rare steak or roast beef. I could not tell if had an unusual odor.

Here are the pictures...
