Ralphie, if I don't have a housemate, may I drive to MN and throw a mushroom at you instead?
Oh man... I wish I got a commission... It's a great book. It's got a LOT of information in it. But it's well written and explained... It is so huge I don't usually drag it with me on a foray, but it is out constantly as I refer to it all the time. I think you'll love it!I just ordered that book..You better get a commission Zoomie.
LOL! Under the next entry, Leucopaxillus amarus, he says of the edibility of this species:
The WWD is very anti mushroom throwing...Her family makes furniture out of toadstools...
You could always hide the mushrooms in the closet...Aw, c'mon. I was looking forward to smashing mushrooms on your bonce.
@Pensmaster
great.... So, I think... but again, it's just what I think, there might be something I'm missing... that this is Leucopaxillus albissimus. This is a very small family that is an ally of Clitocybe. Here is a quote from my key, to tell the difference:
From "Mushrooms Demystified" by David Arora.
And now you can see that staying up late reading mushrooms keys is not necessarily boring, provided you have a good key.![]()

Well it doesn't seem to decay very fast. The pictured sliced one was the one I picked in the morning and was in the sun all day. Still crispy to cut. I'll try the throwing test.
