Mushroom foragers

The caps on the bolletes are a tad slimy feeling. The larch ones are so slimy I did not want to touch them.

I have yet to eat one I have harvested. I am in the not sure place yet. I really need someone that knows bolettes to go with.

I did harvest and eat some "shrimp of the woods" yesterday. They were so good. I am going out to pick the other thousand or so now.

I do not have my pictures, I will get some. they are interesting to read up on. The aborted ones are safe to eat.

I have not seen many Oysters lately and the ones I have seen where dry and buggy.. It rained today so tomorrow I should get a full box of shrimp.

And I know there are some Hens waiting for me nearby too.

Found this orange bracket fungus in the headlight glow on an old oak log by my driveway last night. I'm going to check it out today when it quits storming. Looks similar to the Chicken of the Woods we see occasionally here. What do you think?

It is chicken of the woods, Might be a tad old hard to say.

Thanks! Grew considerably overnight with the rain. What a beautiful fungus. We don't see this often around here and have never eaten one. Most of the posts I've seen suggest trimming off the edges and saute' or pan fry. Thanks in advance for any suggestions on harvesting, prepping and cooking. If this one is too old, at least I know what to look for.
