Keep looking Ozark Hen, you may still have a chance, new fruit bodies might still be emerging in the cooler shaded areas, they are in east central Kansas.

Here is some morel bisque and focaccia in my kitchen last night.

I found a 3-4 inch tall morel last spring, and DH freaked out at me that it would kill me and then proceeded to stomp it to death... I plan to go mushroom hunting ALONE this spring, its not quite warm enough here but I am sure that in the next week they will be up!!!

Oh if you only knew the half of it, DH is the biggest hott I ever met. Gosh he can be a pain but I am never NOT laughing at/with him...

I saw your post of your pictures, he is a big guy and picturing him stomping a mushroom to death is funny. We won't let him know we talked about it though as I wouldn't want to hurt his feelings.

LOL he knows. He amuses himself more than anyone else I think!!! And really he was practically jumping up and down on it like the thing was going to heave up and bite him or something !

My husband is an expert mushroom hunter. He actually took vacation for the remainder of this week and the beginning of next just to hunt for Morels. (And garden and build more breeding pens for our chickens.)

He's a mushroom geek!

He says after he's done hunting for them, if he closes his eyes, he can still see them popping up out of the grass.

A couple of falls ago, he filled the bed of his pick up with these other huge fall mushrooms. I can't think of their name right now. I told him to knock that crap off cuz I'm not cleaning them!

Jeepers thats a lot of muchrooms. You know, for being DH's favorite food, a person would think he would know what a morel is...and that it wont kill me...
