We ended up with 4 grey morels and 3 Pheasant's Backs today. The morels weren't up to good yet. I decided to pick 3 of the Pheasant's Backs that grow there.
One Pheasant's Back didn't make it. We cut it up in slices. Let it soak in salt water. Drained them. Rolled in flour mixed with salt and pepper then fried in a skillet with plenty of butter. Needless to say there is none left lol.
I would love to have an experienced person teach me about wild mushroom gathering. I have no clue about understanding the difference in the safe to eat and the poisonous ones. I fear I would goof up big time.

You are probably talking about puffballs, this is a common name that applies to a wide number of distinct species, some of which are edible, some mildly poisonous. None of the true puffballs are deadly; however, care must be taken to be absolutely certain that any puffball considered for the table is not the immature button of a toxic member from the genus Amanita, which can be quite deadly.
Went out hunting and found nothing... I was sticking to looking for Morels since they are so distinct looking but I didn't find a single mushroom of any kind anywhere.
