Im trying to post on this new to me MacBook laptop and I don't know yet how to copy and past etc my "extreme diaherre again " post. BUT anyway

Are we support to massage her crop....... like we did Goldies IMPACTED crop almost 2 yrs ago.?
She. is still in the basement looking around look out door watching Hubby.
Unfortunately hubby gave her couple blueberries. Rah...I know that will contribute to the yeast Right? also he let her out the door and she found some worms and and left her back in. I didn't know that
he had did all of this. Then she starts gaping....scared the stuff out of me...
Now what would y'all do? Like I mentioned before did the ACV and .trying The acified copper sulfate but she is not drinking that....She won't eat her water crushed up feed pellets either. I gave her some fresh pumpkin fiber stuff in her water yesterday to encourage her drinking at least.
Hubby also gave her some chickweed...
I have read the articles on here about crops. But y'all have discouraged the use of Gyna Lotrimine
come on y'all please esp experienced chicken moms and dads. we RE SO STRESSED OUT ALREADY WE DONT NEED ALL OF THIS ITS TAXING OUR HEALTH.
I just wonder if its cocci stuff too?

Finally mailed off Blakey poo sample. Unfortunately the vet clinic didn't call till tis morning.
They said State lab called them and said they needed okay to do fecal and or culture.
You talking about ticked off. Later I called myself the state vet school. Dr said later she found my phone number after calling the local vet office. well anyway she said she know more tHIS AFTERNOON...when I called minutes ago
PLEASE HELP THANKS YALL

The very best way to get help on BYC is to create a diary on a topic and then continue to add to that original thread. That will cause others who reply to the thread continually to be notified when you post something new to that thread. When you keep creating new threads on the same topic, no one knows about it unless they stumble across it somehow. That's why it feels to you as though you're crying for help and no one hears.

It does sound as if your hen has a stubborn case of sour crop and the "gaping" is a sign of her extreme discomfort. I suppose you were discouraged from using the lotrimine because it's usually associated with being an athlete's foot treatment, though it should work for this purpose, also.

I recommend miconazole, the store brand being cheaper than Monistat. Treatment is twice a day for seven days. I recommend you offer just boiled egg or yogurt for a few days, hold off on the ACV so as not to add to the acidic conditions of her crop, and then offer dry crumbles after she appears to be feeling better after a couple days into treatment.

No, you do not need to massage the crop during this treatment unless your hen also has impacted contents. You will know if that's the case if the contents of the crop remain in the morning after the first couple days of treatment. The crop should be emptying completely by day three of the miconazole treatment. If not, then treatment for impacted crop will need to be initiated.

Pay attention to the outward appearance of the crop. If it hangs low and sways back and forth when this hen moves around, she could have a chronic condition called pendulous crop. This can cause improper crop function and the result is repeated yeast infections as well as impaction. This condition is treated with a device called a crop bra.

Definitely get hubby on board not to feed anything containing sugars which aggravate the yeast conditions.

she only gaped for a while thank goodness. I think cause when Hubby (let her Outside for a short while, at the) lifted up cardboard she ate lots of worms and she had had some chickweed he gave her... But she only ate the tiny bites of some raw and later some cooked un sweetened pumpkin and a little egg.I gave her couple of cutup fresh cranberries in her water before bed. she is sleeping in a banana box lined with newspaper up on an old end LR table in front of the large(well tall anyway) window in the walkout basement... The lady DR vet called and said poo sample showed no real parasites or cocc. But the sample was SIX DAYS OLD,,,, Even though they received. it thru regular mail Thursday. They didn't do the fecal till this afternoon. Because the DR didn't see my phone number. They were concerned about getting paid...

could her crop be full of worms? her crop is rounded but it is still mushy
could what I am. feeling is the weeds she picked on grazing on this late morning?
we did 2 doses of that generic Gyna Lormine yesterday but we dint feel it was helping. Hubby smelled her breath and no sour smelling.so what would y'all continue on w the Gyna Lotrmine?
she did drink some water;
am I making a mistake letting her eat some chickweed herself out under one of our wings of a toolshed
any more suggestions yall. ?

Have you checked this hen's crop first thing in the morning before you let her eat anything? That's the only way to be certain you're actually dealing with a crop issue.

If the crop is full and mushy when you check it while she's still roosting early in the morning, then it's likely she has a sour crop, regardless of their being no odor. More often than not, there is no odor. The crop should be completely empty when you feel it during this early morning check.

The yeast meds must be given twice a day for a full week to combat the yeast. As far as what she eats during this treatment, it's up to her, but do not give her anything with sugars (fruit, scratch grain, breads, etc.)

Hubby let her out again this morning. I let her out all day yesterday.
after I noticed she was no better. Then it dawned on me that she is not passing anything she eats. So that crop that always fomenting in is prob fermenting. So we went back to the GYNA Lotrimine last nite. He syringed some 10 CC WATER down her throat last nite and smelled that small long end of the syringe..... it stunk very BAD...
So do we vomit her, MASSAGE her SQUISY, Mushy CROP ? DO an EPSOM SALT FLUSH?
TSC said and Hubby looked no EQuiMaX. even thought the computer said they did !!!!!!!

Go read post #2 again. The treatment is there. Do not vomit her! You run the risk of her aspirating the vomit into her lungs.

I recommend miconazole. Use a quarter inch of the tube cream or a quarter inch of the suppositories twice a day for a week.

You need to post a photo of her with a clear side view. I'd like to see if pendulous crop is perhaps behind this sour crop issue. It may not be supported high enough for it to properly empty and she may need a support device called a crop bra.

thanks but an article on here this forum said the Gyna Lotrim was better. We dosed her this morning finally again,,,, We vomited her couple or three times for just two seconds or so.Hubby saw blacken back of her throat. now giving her just water or colloidal silver we made sev days ago. I just wish I could get her to swallow an OIL of Oregano capsule
I don't understand how she is going to get what is in her crop to come out>>>>>>>>
Her crop is pendulous yet..
I'm trying to file share on my two comp where I have documents I copied and pasted on various chicken topics.. I did so yesterday Bur ubfort I did write it down

Sour crop really is a pain in the tail. Massaging really is what can help clear the blockage. Vomiting may help empty the crop a bit, but it won't address the root of the problem. The root of the problem is most likely a tangled up ball of hay or grass. Vomiting is dangerous, and even though it will help, the risk of aspiration is not worth it. I would massage it 3-5 times a day. You should massage it like you are kneading dough. I would keep ACV in the water, and separate the affected bird. Don give her access to grass or other long things that can be tangled up. Do supply her grit. Keep her on a strict diet of plain chicken food with warm water mixed in. It makes it easier to digest. I would medicate her with acified copper sulfate or miconazole. Good luck! I hope she gets better!!!

Sh is not getting better she prob has been walking around too much and eating weeds etc and can't pass it......prob her crop etc is full of bacteria or whatever maybe worms...
y'all is so confusing some of y'all say massage some said don't massage. HUBYY saw Black at her back of throat,,,,So nothing is passing. Her poop is 999% water the green is prob BILE..I believe the root of the prob is worms and or an infection. Cause she has had watery poo for weeks. I thought it was the cherry tomatoes she found out growing along their fence line....also I aught her drinking from war dripped out of a saucer under a container . That how I gardened this year mostly container gardening. .vegetable growing pot I had on a stand those bags of humus,Manure, fertilizers, top soil and compost etc. some stunk....Who know what they're Putin in those bags and called organic. Duh me..
Two Crows says. I quoted or copied and pasted what she said on May 2, 2017

"Oh and dose her with 1ml 3 times a day on the vaginal creams for 5 to 7 days.

When you get the Copper Sulfate, mix it as 1/4 teaspoon Copper per gallon of water. Use plastic waterers only. It is safe to dose the entire flock if you wish too. Make a new batch daily. What I do if I am only treating one bird is get a plastic milk jug and mix up a gallon and fill up her water only on this for a few days. But always offer fresh up daily, don't keep the same water out each day. Use this for 6 or 7 days and see if she doesn't improve. If she still has a sour crop, something else is going on internally causing this sour crop.
