Agreed. If you need to put an animal down, do it as quickly and humanely as possible. Given the options listed above, off with their heads is the most humane. In my opinion, it's part of being a responsible animal owner.

I completely agree. It's your responsibility to help them die humanely. Letting them die in woods alone would only be easier for you.
