That would be great. These are my babies, I can't even imagine choosing which one's to give away. When I posted the pictures, I started crying. I am so sick of people that get the cops involved with simple things like this.

Little Jerry, yes, he is a doll baby!!

Stupid neighbor.....what is he/she mad because the chickens wouldn't come play at her house?? They are sooo gorgous I'd have a pen for them in my FRONT yard for all of my neighbors to ohhh and ahhhh over!

I know. This is the second time, and we still don't know who it is. They will only tell us that it is a woman who lives somewhere behind us. She has to be a miserable hag who sits by the window all day long listening for any noises, because our birds don't make any more noise than any dog in the neighborhood. We let them out in the front with supervision sometimes and most of the people that walk by are fascinated with them. Little Jerry is always put away until it is late enough in the morning for him to crow without disturbing anyone. The lawn mowers and motercycles are ten times louder than him. This ***** must just hate animals.

It is legal, but only six. We have fourteen. They are healthy and happy and have plenty of room to roam in the back yard. I can see enforcing that law if you are hoarding animals but how bored are the cops in this town if they are worried about simple things like this? Ten minutes away in Oakland, people are getting shot to death.

I'm so sorry. You have a beautiful flock and surely someone wonderful will take them for you.

I am so sorry. I am too far (Southern Oregon) for convenient visiting from you .... that little rooster is absolutely adorable.

I hope you find a good home for them. I have 2 standard cochins and 3 EE hens and an EE rooster that I adore.

Hi. I have a few suggestions... maybe you have already considered these.

Is is possible to temporarily board them elsewhere until the situation blows over. Then, bring them back and only have six at a time visible. This would work best if some of your girls look similar.

Alternatively, do you have a friendly neighbor that would be interested in renting/leasing an area of their yard or property for some of your girls. I am assuming that the limit is six per homestead. You could swap them out so that you never have more that six on your property.

This is such a nasty situation. I hate pet limit laws. They are meant to prevent cruelty and nuisance complaints. However, many times they target responsible owners. Unfortunately, there are far more irresponsible people that are careless with one or two pets.

Before this all happened, I knew we needed to extend the back fences so that no one would be able to go back there and look. I guess we were too late

There are a few people on the block that showed interest in getting chickens in the past. I was thinking about aproaching them and asking if they are still interested. The only problem though, is Little Jerry. He will need to find a new home out in the country. Luckily, he is a bantam and all feathers, so I don't think anyone that wanted to eat him would show interest in taking him. That is a good idea, we could have someone look after them until we extend the fences.

I'd definitely talk to my neighbors and see if you could come up with a plan, maybe a group plan. You might even be able to rotate the roo around the neighborhood. Maybe in someone's basement til the cops decide you are now legal? Might be that a roo in a basement is not actually illegal, depending how the law is written.

I would love to have them, but I am probably not as close as you would like. We could give them a forever home. We just lost our two pet roosters but they were over 10. We live on a small farm south of Modesto CA. I have been wanting some laying chickens. It gets hot here, though and your chickens might not like that.

Well, that is the thing. It is not technically illegal to have a rooster. The law states that you can have six fowl. It says nothing about roosters not being allowed. The law that they bring up with roosters it the noise law. We accidentally ended up with a standard Brahma/Cochin roo last year and he was loud. He is the one that was killed

After we had found him another home, we went to court and the judge threw it out because we did not break the law! By that time, we could not bring him back home because this guy had already killed him! This time, they are trying to harass us about the number of chickens. You know, I completely agree that we need laws and cops to protect us, but they are going wayyyyy to far with this. Someone is taking their job much to seriously. When we realized that Little Jerry was a boy, we thought it would be ok because he is a bantam. Honestly, he is not too loud and he does not crow all day long like alot of roosters do. He is not any louder than the weed wackers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, motorcycles, school bells, screaming children, dogs barking etc. that starts every morning at 8 am! We do put him away in a large covered tub at night until 9 in the morning (which I hate) but we only planned on doing that until we built a more sound resistant coop. But that plan has gone to hell =/ You would not believe the noise the neighborhood dogs make. But people are just discriminatory against roosters for some reason. And I can completely understand if he were crowing at six in the morning, but he cannot be heard when he is put away.
