Must I raise humidity the last few days?

I'm going to be incubating button quail eggs soon in my homemade incubator.

It's pretty good, staying at around 100*F and 54% humidity, but I have little control over the humidity. It's supplied by way of bowl with sponge and a LOT of water in it, not that it really matters how much water is there. As long as there is enough, the humidity doesn't change.

Is it a problem that I don't know how to make it 70% for the last day or two? Does anyone know anything that could be done?

Just increase the surface area. If no room for another container of water cut sponges in strips that fit and soak them with water. They will last a few days without having to wick from a container.

You have plenty of control over the humidity! The trick is to increase the surface area of the water, i.e. a cup of water in both troughs creates more humidity than a quart of water in a bowl.

A wise man once said "Don't count your chickens before they hatch" but we all know you can never have too many brooders or too much feed on hand.

I put them pointy side down to rest for now. They'll go in the incubator tomorrow morning
