mutliple breeds, Sex questions?

If you won't keep them cooped for a few days, at least coop them until mid-afternoon to late afternoon for several days in a row. I have a number of hens that wait until afternoon to lay. Do put an egg like thing in the nest box, so they know it is ok to lay there.

Also look in the possible spots inside the coop. Right now the litter is pretty deep, been tossing the barely dirty chick litter in the coop, so there is enough poop to decompose the wood shavings. I thought the molt was progressing to the no egg stage, but I found 10 eggs is a deep nest under the roosts. I only have 3 girls that are not fully molting yet, so that was nearly a weeks worth. When my EE free ranged all day, I found eggs under the lawn mower, under a piece of plywood propped on a bucket, in the weeds near the compost bin. They like the area around the herb garden. Once I find a hiding spot they go somewhere else. Generally they use their nest box or at least the coop, is I keep them in until 2 or so. My girls are afternoon layers. Hens like any group of females that live and/or work together, generally have cycles in sync.
