My 2nd Duck Hatch!

Pics
I now have 20 ducks when I started with 4 of course that was almost 20 years ago hard to believe! It’s just too hard to give them up Until you realize there are too many drakes.
Of my remaining 13 ducklings from the previous batch, it looks like there are only 3 girls!!! I’m planning on keeping as many drakes as I can in a bachelor flock and trying to find some good homes..

I started with 2 drakes and 4 girls that somebody gave me 2.5 years ago. Then all the girls hatched babies last year. I sold most of the babies. Then this year I got the incubator and decided I wanted to expand my flock and breed for better layers, hopefully. That’s why I have 29 ducks plus the 17 new babies!

Be prepared for endless duckling pictures:)

I talked to the person who bought my last ducklings and she wants to buy as many as I’ll let her have. She loves the ones she got from me before and says a lot of them turned out to be black with white bibs as I expected. So I just have to decide how many to keep and at what age I’m willing to let them go. She’s very experienced so I’m not too concerned about selling young babies but I’ll probably keep them until they’re at least 4 - 6 days old just to make sure they’re strong and healthy

#3 finally hatched! I’m a bit concerned about it’s navel. It’s yolk is absorbed but the navel looks a bit more open than normal? I was thinking of putting antibiotic ointment on it. The duckling is lively and strong.
