I love it! Those little buggers are down in the brooder box with my 4 remaining goslings. They are such an adorable little crew. They run all around and run right through their food and chopped greens soupy stuff I made them. They love to nibble on our hands. The ducklings are like 1/2 the size of the goslings...maybe not even. I"ll post pics of them all together soon. I wish just leaving the egg carton out resulted in new babies. That'd be ease.

chickenlisa...what is your secret to having such an easy time and great hatch rate with the ducks? incubator brand?, temps? and anything else you can think helps your success rate...thanks...virginia

btw...VERY cute duckies!!!

Sorry, I JUST saw this post! So sorry!
I use my own duck eggs fresh out of their pen, washed off mostly, and I use a Genesis Hovabator 1588. Temps pretty steady at 99.50100.0 Humidity about 35-45% until the last 3 days, then I boost it up to 65-70%.I use an auto turner from day 0-25. I take them out on day 26 in the am, and either put upright in an egg carton or lay down on their sides.
I try not to help any hatch, but have been known to have a very soft heart and not be able to leave them alone. I only had 1 die last summer because it was a gimpy, lame duckling. (Lame duck?)
It was caught funny in the egg and once I helped it, I think it was too late to correct the bad leg. I tried, but it didn't make it. Other than that, I just have dumb luck I guess. Very fertile determined eggs and chicks too.
Lisa
Thanks for all the "Cute" comments. They are adorable!
