2 boys and 2 girls and when I let them out to run the fenced 2 areas with the chickens, the firt thing I hear is squawks from the or chickens. My fawn and white runners, who I just adore because they are hilarious, are bullies! They try to grab the chickens tails or their tophats and try to mount them or just bite at them for no reason. They travel the yard in a pack and one little girl breaks off to attack a chicken! Obviously they aren't doing any harm but Are ducks usually like this? They also torment the 5 month old turkey I have.

But it really is the funniest thing to see these lil devils run as fast as they can to nip at a chicken. Also when they hear me come out anywhere in the yard they quack so loud. I'm new to ducks and had no idea they had so much personality!

Also when will my girls start to lay.? I haven't seen an egg yet

My runners started laying between 16 and 22 weeks of age.

With new flock introducktions, a few of them can be bullies. It was a shock because before new ducks arrived, my flock was sweet and mellow. Then, yes, a few of them act like little hoodlums. It is settling down now, after two weeks.

Watch out for drakes on hens. It can kill the chicken.

My girls are like that with the dog and anything else that comes into the backyard. (squirrels, other birds, whatever) It's gotten so bad the dog won't go out in the yard to poop anymore!
