I looked on the site and cant find it. My house was built in the 50's so I am thinking it might have been a wedding gift to the last owners who were very old when I bought the home. I tried to contact them years ago when I would get mail for them still but was unable I know their children were very sucessful and wealthy so I am not going to stress it. It might have been the original owners as well but I dont think so.

I cant seem to find the stamp on that site but will look more in the morning.

If anyone can figure it out though in the meantime I will ship them 6 free eggs o one of my pure breeds (my choice)

Please get out a magnifying glass and see if there is a company name, and describe a close up of the stamp to the left of the crown. The year would be helpful too and it could be anywhere on there. Mine years are in different places on each piece even though they were cast at the same time - 1879 - very hard to see without a magnifying glass.

I think the crown image is usually associated with Sheffield England....but I can't see enough detail to make out what the other marks are. You might want to take it to a reputable dealer to find out what it is worth.

Very Cool find!!!!!!

Susan, how on earth did you find that underneath all your stuff jammed up there?

not me mine tends to go the other way so this is a breath of fresh air in many long years.

PC- Lee's syuff was in that corner so when he finally got it all out after Christmas I went up there with ds and started moving all my stuff around trying to organize it. thats where I found it, it was the only corner (the carpet pieces) that were in there originally, the attic was empty when we bought the house otherwise.

from what I can gather it is the SHEFFIELD MARK with the next little stamp being the S for the year 1910 http://www.silvercollection.it/englishsilverhallmarksSHE.html

I think the first is an S for 1910 and the second and third are a B and C (maybe) the last is half cut off and really hard to tell. I cant find the lion either that they refer to on the site.

Thanks

I did manage to determine it was a sheffield piece as the pattern is the same as many of my pieces. Great find!!!! I have a lot of silver pieces from 1879 to 1957. My favorite is the martini shaker with my great great grandfathers initials engraved in it.
