I keep my chickens at my parents house cause I live in town. So I give them eggs. One day my aunt was there and I brought some eggs in and put them on the table.( She eats eggs from the store the white ones). She said those are nasty I wouldn't eat them they came from a chicken. Mom asked, where do you think the ones in the store came from. Where do people think eggs come from?

Do you not know that the eggs you buy in the store are manufactured in a plant? They don't come from chickens. The shell is bleach to make them sanitary.

Yeah, there's another thread going now called "'Do you know people grossed out by fresh eggs".

Sort of lends creedence to one of the three year old childs favorite joke/sayings..."Guess what"?...."Chicken Butt"....

I put it in the other thread too, but it just makes me laugh. My husband's friend really thought that all eggs were brown, but at the "chicken factory" (chicken fairy's house maybe?) they bleach the brown eggs and that is how they become white.

And my MIL asked me about egg colors one day because our local newspaper printed an article saying that all white eggs came from white chickens, and all brown eggs came from brown chickens.

It's not just eggs.

I was at the grocery store, talking with the produce manager, when a gal approached him. She was completely outraged that the head of butter lettuce she was holding had some dirt on the lower leaves. She couldn't understand how dirt had gotten onto the lettuce. I looked at her and said "Lettuce grows in the dirt."...she said, and I quote: "It does?"

I think there is a bit of a disconnect.

I'mnewtothis :

A lady at work tried to tell me that free range chickens lay brown eggs and if you keep them in a coop they are white.

Ive heard that too... I always have to giggle when they say.. Then politle correct them...

Wow. Don't tell my white hen, Zsha Zsha that. She lays brown eggs, and my black Creve Coeurs lay white eggs.
