I think a good idea might be for a computer geek (like my husband, for example
) to design software that will interface orders with a weather forecasting program. The program can alert the hatchery of any orders that are scheduled to be shipped to any place that has a forecast of being outside of "safe temperature/weather parameters" and they can contact the customer to arrange for an alternate shipping date. They could even make it so that if the customer has ordered on-line, such an alert can be sent to them via e-mail. While not always accurate, sites like Weatherchannel.com will make predictions as far as a week in advance.
