My Babies are Gone

Our little local newspaper is really good about printing letters to the editor about thefts, vandalism of gravesites, etc. Some recoveries have been made as a result. I am just suggesting this because it is pretty noteworthy to have new chickens "all of the sudden."

I think that's a very good idea, be proactive! Send a letter to the newspaper to get the word out. As soon as the thieves find out you're making a fuss, they may never come around again.

Put an ad the paper something like, you know how wonder it is to own chickens and understand how someone would want them bad enough to do this. You would like to see more enjoy the hobby therefore return chickens with no questions asked and you would be happy to GIVE them free eggs or chicks provided they can take care of them?? Something like that? I hope you get the point I;m trying to make even though Im not making it very well. I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's a sad thing when you can't even keep a chicken in your yard for fear of theft.

I agree with the rest of the posters, get some security lights that make a noise of some sort. I know if I was trying to kidnap a chicken in the middle of the night, that would scare the **** out of me, that's for sure.

Hmm. This is something I would have never thought of ever happening until now. I will take this and turn it into a lesson. Everyone has great ideas. I will take all the suggestions and implement them in my yard for sure.
