My Babs is dying

I am so, so sorry :(
I know this is hard on you.
You have done everything you can to help her. I have one question: Has she been eating and drinking?
If not, you might want to give her some NutriDrench to at least get some nutrients in her. She probably won't like it and there's a fair chance it won't do much but it will at least give her body some energy.
The good thing about NutriDrench is that it goes straight into the bird's bloodstream, bypassing the intestinal tract. Which means that if she still has intestinal worms, they won't be taking the nutrients from her before she can access them.

Best of Luck

Thankyou for your kind words and advice. Sadly my Babs passed away earlier today :( . She had been eating and drinking but not very much and I had resorted to syringe feeding her with yogurt and egg yolks but the mites and parasites seem to have got the better of her and after 4 weeks of struggling and vet visits and medication she finally gave up :( . I have another silkie so now I need to tend to her in case she has picked any of the mites etc up. Not quite sure what to do so any advicd would be good. Thankyou again

So sorry for your loss. We all know how easy it is to get attached to them, and most of us have felt that helpless feeling when that are sick. You can be sure, at least that you did your best and that she was so much better off after you took her in. I agree with the rest of the group, at least 2 more so that nobody has to be alone if/when you lose another. Hopefully that will be at a ripe old age.

I am so sorry that you lost your Babs. I'm glad I read through all the responses, because Cyprus has already mentioned NutriDrench.

Nutridrench is a must have for anyone with chickens. It has saved several hens over the last 3 years. Most recently, I had a legbar hen who was sitting by herself, eyes closed, getting weaker and weaker. She had an impacted crop and sour crop as well... when it rains, it pours. I started out by giving her nutridrench mixed 50% with water using an eye dropper. I don't know exactly how much I got into her, but it was about 1/4 cup. I put her in a nest box since she wasn't able to roost. I have cameras in my coop so I could spy on her. She started to move withing an hour, was standing up within 2 hours, and was perched on the front of the nest box within 4 hours. I fed her the nutridrench mixture through out the day, and by the end of the day she was almost back to normal. When I was giving her the fluids, I was rubbing her crop gently to loosen the impaction.

If I didn't have NutriDrench on hand, I would have lost her. There is a home made version from fresh eggs daily or the chicken chick. I will look for it and post it.

Good luck with your new silkies.
