My baby chick injured ...

Well, I left and went to work - she's still here ... her hind end looks a little better - I read online here about that - says to use prep h - who'da known??? I did, she lay right there and let me rub that on her. That is just too wild!!

I don't feel she's eating like she has been though ... I will keep ya'll posted ...

But thank you so much for all the great advice ...

No open wounds ... hubby says he didn't feel any knots or didn't feel like anything was broke ? So I guess time will tell ...

I'm not sure what breed she is - my husband knows this, but she's in the smaller hen family -- the eggs they lay are small small ...

She is doing fine today !! Still laying down, but doing ok.

I put a small dab of olive oil in her food -- I'm headed to Southern States today to see if I can get some electrolites and some softer food maybe? I put a baby aspirin in her water ... I haven't checked her rear end today - since she's so calm, but I did manage to put the Prep H on her, and she did not move (last night) ... that was pretty wild.

I pray her leg isn't broke, and it's just a sprain.

If her leg is broke will she be able to ever walk again? Or if it's a sprain ... how long do you think she'll lay like this? I am also getting the dog cage we have (it's fairly large though) and am going to put it outdoors so I can put her in it and she can get some fresh air.

I feel better today-

Chickens can be pretty resilient. If she can get past what's going on, I think she'll be fine. To get better, she needs to be eating, drinking and eliminating. Still curious what's going on with her back side. Glad you feel better today.

Well, I think she had that 'prolapse' - I read if there were any infection or shock it could cause it - but when I came back home last night after work, I checked her she was better, it had sorta went back - somewhat, but I still used the Prep H to help - said it will shrink the tissues ...

I checked her a few ago, she had a good mess out there ... LOL Funny, I'm happy she did a good poop. Hehehe. I sure hope she can walk soon though.
She did try to get up on her legs last night ... I mean straight up but she fell over after like 4 sec or so. This is new, I've never seen her do that.

We have 2 hens sitting again - so here comes the fun again.

Yea, and I took her outside for some fresh air - I think she liked it.

I hate to hear her little peeps though

Sorta sad to me.

Glad you're both feeling a little better today!

It sounds like you're doing a great job!

She's probably sad about being away from her friends, more than anything else. I've read that some people put a cuddly toy or a mirror in with solo birds to make them feel like they have some company.

Oh, good idea!! I will get a mirror for her! Bet she'd like that ...

We bought a rabbit cage and she's in that now instead of wondering all over the concrete floor- I put a rug in it so she's not on the cold floor - although I think she probably likes that some ... but I don't want her wandering in the garage ...

I just hear her little peeps ....
