My baby chick Mansion!

I used 2x3’s to frame out the brooder box and just paneling for the sides. The overall size is 2’x3’. And the bottoms is made from 1/4” plywood. The Base that it sets on is made of 2x4’s. So it’s actually two separate pieces. It will make it easier to move if I need to. Here are a couple pics before I put in the flooring. I can upload a few pics of the base maybe tomorrow. If you’d like?

Thanks! Reminds me sort of like an aquarium on a stand idea... smart. Your first pics it looked like the legs continued straight up through the brooder at the corners. Grateful for the insights

Yes, I did. I agree. Screws are more versatile and actually keep things tighter IMO.
Agreed! The only benefit to nails is shear strength, and that really shouldn’t be a problem in most chicken related projects... “Oh no! The 2oz baby fluff balls are jumping in the brooder! Those screws are going to snap right in half!” I get to have this “discussion” pretty much weekly with my Father in law

You can do one better by turning this into an article, complete with measurements, some how-to text and a parts list. That way, anyone can build one. It's a GREAT concept!

What format would be best to upload this into an article? Power Point? Word? I’d love to share my design to help others.

Best to wait until chicks have been in there for a time...I guarantee there'll be changes. Then you won't have to update it later.

I write up my articles in Word then copy and paste the text to the article template. Pics will have to be uploaded.

Love it!

Your brooder looks great! The bead board (that's what it looks like to me) is a great idea for keeping it lite. Love the feeding station! How many chicks is it designed to hold?

Are you going to put any shavings on the bottom? If so, please let me know how the watering cups work out for you. Thank you!
