My baby's face is red!!! What's wrong??!

My fence is the same not great, nothing really comes during the day.
The few times something has iv'e been the dog. Not very ladylike but more fun than i'd thought. :p
My step-dad is a city guy. Likes electronics, computers and stuff like that. My mom and I were raised out here in the woods. We know the pest population. I'm a plant freak; gardener. I raise tomatoes and have a small greenhouse. My backyard is fenced in with a poor excuse of a fence. Stuff can still dig under it if it's desperate. I'd have to have a dog, which is an extra expense and I don't do slobber, holes, fleas and barking.

I'm not quite sure I believe she could be a he. These are a sexed pullet batch from Tractor Supply, the boys are horribly murdered from the pullet section.
@RhodeIslandRed5 ...
so this is the most cuddly one in the flock. Check.
Face is turning red at 2 months of age. Check.
Acquired from a "sexed" batch at Tractor Supply. Check.
These are some simple red flags pointing to the possibility that this is a cockerel.
They're always the friendliest chick till hormones hit.
Their faces and combs and wattles grow earlier than pullets and turn red.
Tractor Supply is notorious for mixing up their batches, not only by sex but by breed. You can never be sure you are getting the breed or gender you think you bought from them. There's a whole thread about TSC chick mix ups on BYC.
I think your birds are very warm. Wet dirt won't harm them. Dust baths are necessary for them. I don't know what gender your special chick is (I only have my suspicions). And I really hope someone here can help you figure out how to keep them.
Good luck!

Birds is fine, completely normal to change colors depending on mood, weather and health.Bird is healthy and is a pullet.
@Roo5 what makes you sure its a pullet? I'd need to see more than just the face but would love to be able to do that.

I think she's cuddly because i've babied her from the begining. She would get pushed from the feeder so I started guarding her.

Yep. Repecca was always slower than the others, last in line for treats, easily pushed aside. I Babied Repecca right from day one. The whole family did. My granddaughter and her friends would come to cuddle and play with her. She followed me everywhere, sat on my lap, constantly wanted my attention, which she wholeheartedly got.
Here's Repecca now.

Renamed Roopecca.

Bird would more then likely have a big face and wattles, the bird is more then likely a pullet or late development cockerel,I’m gonna go with a girl, red faces is only good indicator when the bird has huge wattles and combs,it’s also a chance the bird is the dominant one of the group, which I’ve also seen,I have had so many pullets with a “red face”,nothing about this chicken screams rooster to me.The Comb is also not thick, and the points aren’t as spread and more put together on the little bit of comb that this bird has.Not in denial it’s male but I’ve rises Rhode Island reds before and make and female were pretty obvious by now.

Thanks! I'll be adding that information to my brain bank for the future. I'll be practicing it on more pictures!:thumbsup

Roopecca might be a rooster on the surface but inside is a spoiled girl.
Haven't seen Roopecca in a while, got puffy didn't he? :D
