My Best friend oliver is very sick prayer request

Omran, I'm glad to hear that Oliver is rallying a bit. I almost emailed you earlier today to see how he was doing. Hard to believe you can be so glad to see a cat pee, isn't it!

Ditto has been home for the weekend and is not eating much of anything. I've spent more time cooking for the cat than for my family. Haven't had any luck with any of the fish or seafood items yet; the only thing he seems to eat is chicken or turkey and only a bite of that. He's on prednisone and Keflex, and I've been squirting a few mls of unflavored Pedialyte in him every couple of hours. I hooked up the Drinkwell fountain, and the other two cats are delighted, but Ditto won't drink from it. He's still using the litter box a little, so there is still some kidney function, but at this rate I don't know how he will last. I have a feeling I'll be calling the vet Monday morning and learning how to do the subcutaneous fluid injections., if we can make it until then.

I thank you and thank all BYC friends for hanging with me and help me at this difficult times.
God bless you all.

Well, we made it until Monday, but it was not a good weekend. We made the difficult decision this morning and the vet helped Ditto cross the Rainbow Bridge. We all decided that his kidneys were just too bad, and with the pancreatitis on top of it, the deck was just stacked against him. He was down to skin and bones, and was too weak to even jump up on the chair (his favorite place) to rest. This is the cat who used to jump from the floor to my shoulder so he could cuddle. We buried him over by the bird feeder where our other cat, Smokey, is buried. Smokey died a year ago from severe pancreatitis. Smokey was a big gentle gray tabby and Ditto was a solid gray smoke color. Smokey was so big (22 lbs, and he never ate table food!) he looked like part Maine Coon, and Ditto was an elegant cat who looked like a Russian Blue, although they were both pure mutt cats. They were also both rescued kittens from a feral cat colony at the school where I worked, so they both had happy lives as very loved house cats.

I pray that Oliver is still improving on his fluid regimen; I know it's hard, but people keep telling me that really helps, so bless you, Omran, for doing it. Give Oliver an extra cuddle ffrom me and from Ditto.

So very sorry, from one Sally to another. Many hugs and wishes for strength, peace and happy memories.

Omran, I hope Oliver is hanging in there. Many hugs.

Thanks, Ranchhand, I'm trying to work on the happy memories tonight. I don't know where you are in SC, but we lived in Charleston for 22 years, and I have a son living in North Augusta. Throw a kiss at the state for me; I love Tennessee, but I miss being able to garden year-round!

We're in Hollywood, south of Charleston. Gardening year round is not working so well, we had ice all last week out here in the boonies.

Keep working on those good memories and keep a box of tissues nearby. It's never easy but it's the best "favor" we can ever do for our beloved companions.

I am so sorry to hear that.

I swear it brought the tears to my eyes, God be with Ditto and be with you all in this tough situation. For Me CATS are the best thing of all pets, I don't know why but I just love them.
