MY BOY FINALLY CROWED

Our roo's are only 4 weeks old!! I can't wait to hear a good squeaky toy sound!!

I was ecstatic when my boy Edward did his first one, but it doesn't last long! I would give anything to sleep past 5:00 AM!

Awww! Congrats!My brown leghorn was 6 weeks old monday and he started crowing also. He sounds like a teenage boy going through puberty. I know all my family thinks I am insane because I call them all so they can hear him. He stretches out his neck, ruffles his feathers, throws his chest out and gives his best croak. Sounds like a frog getting squished. hahaha

Foggy crowed!!!!! He heard the dogs playing with a squeaky toy and he crowed!!! Now if only Rowdy would crow. If Rocky crows then we know for sure if it is a boy!

I am almost positive I have several roosters out of my original 17 chicks but none of them have crowed yet and they are 10 weeks old. Does it take longer for some to crow or do you think I just am not hearing them?

They all start at different ages. We had a Black ROsecomb that started at 5 weeks! And the others have gradually joined in but there are plenty that I haven't heard a peep from yet. The Golden Polish started at about 7 weeks and then for ages no body else got going. Now my partridge cochin banties are starting as are my silkies. My buff orpingtons are just barely beginning and so are our speckled sussex. They started the day before 6 were killed by marauding dogs! It was one of them crowing its heart out that helped us figure out something BAD was going on (our dog woke us and then the crowing let us know where the problem was!) I have no clue who it was or even if it was the one that disappeared - presumed eaten.... but whoever it was they did a fantastic job with their very hoarse, croaky squawk! They are 11+ weeks now. SO that gives you an idea of what a wide range there is in the timing.

Congrats on the crowing!

When we got Billy, he was a gawky thing, but about 1/2 grown...so, it only took 'til next morning to hear a full-bodied crow in the back yard. haha

Sometimes it sounds like he's saying "walketh onnnnnnnnnnn!"

Then, some days, it's "walking scoundrel"! hahahahaa

I guess I spend too much time with my chickens, because they are starting to "verbalize" English.

I have Heidi (the one that's gone broody) on cell phone video saying "Hello" to me as plain as day...but I didn't know if anyone would want to see it haha.

Well Rowdy has attempted to crow but not anything full force. Foggy you can hear as soon as it is dawn.
