my broody hen...may be a silly question

My hen is sitting on eggs as we speak. We are about 11 days in and she had not eaten anything until last night. Anyway, this afternoon she pooed...in the nest on the eggs. She is in my basement because the other girls were bothering her in the coop. Anyway, it stinks and I don't know if I should try to change the straw in the box or not? Should I leave her and hope the smell mellows or should I try to remove the yuck? I don't want to bother her anymore than necessary...advice.

If she pooed then she needed to get off the nest. Take her off the nest to eat/ drink and try to get the poo out the nest.

Yes, don't worry about disturbing her. Occasionally a broody won't get up every day as they should and you have to take them off the nest, dog them til they take care of business and get some exercise. She can be off the eggs 20 or 30 minutes without a problem. Definitely clean up the nest. Mine will preen, dust bathe, the whole thing before they go back.
