well.........interesting you should ask that! We had cedar chips in there, but for the long ride home I brought a small bag of hamster fluff bedding....it's paper like but fluffy so they would stay warm. when we got home I didn't want that in with them, but my son got to them before I got in there, I was afraid they would eat it, but they don't!!
Adorable!
Happy Birthday to your daughter!!! Happy girl and happy chicks!
Is that bedding good to use with chicks? I've never seen it before.
I know cedar is bad for them, but haven't seen the fluff bedding used for chicks. I had gerbils that used it before though and it's very absorbent and doesn't smell bad at all.
I have used Aspen before also in a pinch, but regularly use pine shavings since we get them regularly for our horses.
Would like to hear more on people using that bedding since I know it's very absorbent.
Thanks and you'll love this breed.
I've got 15 of them and they are the sweetest ever!
Yes! Do get it out of there.
You can use pine shavings, aspen, and I've seen some use paper towels laid down over the bottom of the brooder too.
Any of those will do.
With shavings or anything small, just make sure they aren't eating lots of them.
I did start my chicks out with the larger pine shavings and watched closely until I was sure they were just eating the starter crumbles and not those.

Tons of stuff about raising chicks, feeding, housing etc.
I'd have had a nervous breakdown if not for this group! I was so nutso worrying about my chicks when I first started out last year!
Even though I'd read in books..what helped most was being able to read what was going on with other's chicks and how the problems were solved.
