My bus drivers provoking children to fight!!!!!!!

This needs to be taken up with your parent/adult and they need to go to the school or bus company - where ever it would be most effective.

area of the door.

There will be a decal with the words "Owned By" or "Operated By".

A school bus tends to operate in one of two main ways...either the bus
is owned by the school district itself and the driver is indeed an employee

Another common way is the school district hiring an outside contractor to
supply the school bus and drivers. "Operated By"

Either way the school board is held responsible for the actions of the bus
driver acting in their behalf.

Question for the teachers among us...Am I correct in assuming the principal
does not have the power to fire an employee? I would think that to be more
of a school board thing.

Make no mistake...you've heard me before...I am very much aware of the people
I entrust my daughter to.

I have followed her school bus to see how the driver does his job. I have gotten
ahead of him and waited to observe. There is a handicapped child on the bus...I
have watched him assist this child.

Her bus driver is one of my best friends. I think the world of him. But I play no games
with school bus saftey. I live on a divided 4-lane highway...he would let my daughter
off, then cross all four lanes of traffic. This is against the law. We talked about it once.
And only once. A school bus MUST turn with the traffic, to the next intersection. There the
driver may turn back in the direction they wished to go.

Do not play with safety...someone WILL get hurt.

I talked to my mother and she
doesn't want me to bring my camera to school ( in case of theifs) but she
wants me to talk to someone at school like the principal or guidence counsalar can talk to the principal, someone. Tommorrow I'll ask my friend to come with me. I'll tell you guys how it goes tomorrow.

The girl is being abused by family,and in turn she abuses others.Classic behavior. It is sad the way some kids have to grow up,and even sadder that adults will allow and encourage this.

I hope youe envolvement will somehow help this girl.

I see school bus drivers speeding all the time.True there might not be kids on the bus,but that doesn't mean the driver should go an estimated 40 in a 25!
If things don't get resolved with a driver then a parent should not allow their kids to ride the bus.Contacting the school district on your own or with a lawyer to file a complaint over safety is a possible next step. I would not allow my kids on a bus if I did not feel the driver was a good one.

I don't have kids in school anymore, but I think our county school would look at the bus driver, too. However, it appears to me that these three siblings are out of control and should be reported to the principal as well. We have a huge discipline problem with the youth today. IMO, riding a school bus is a privilege, not a right. The bus drivers have a big responsibility just driving this large vehicle, and disciplining unruly kids should not be part of their job. The fact that this girl picks on other kids on the bus tells me this family needs a rude awaking. Why is it the responsibility of the driver to referee their behavior? (His fault is not reporting it!) I think that is shifting the blame when it is the parents who need to be called on the carpet. Maybe ferrying those children to school twice a day would solve some of the bad behavior. A parenting class might also help!

Be proud of yourself OP that you are willing to speak up and let the other responsible adults in your life know that something is not right on your bus. I am a bus driver, a sub right now. It is the my responsibility to keep the children under control and seated at all times. It is very hard. For one, trying to watch the road, keep an eye on what is going on, and in my case holding a map, and trying to find a child's home! That being said, it is not acceptable to in courage the children to fight, the very behavior you are supposed to stop form accruing.
You as a student can talk to your principle, but also have your parents call the transportation office, if you don't know the number ask the school, you have a right to know it, because if you moved you would need to contact them to get a new bus route, and things like that. Ask to speak to the supervisor, and explain what is going on and how often. Something will be done about it.
I would not try to video the behavior, there are laws against students being taped without consent, that could cause a different problem for you.Students are not aloud to have cell phones, cameras, or recording devises on the bus at any time.
We do have cameras on our buses, and believe me they have caught as many drivers doing the wrong thing, as they have caught students.
I hope you do follow through with this because the children fighting, and the driver need to be told their behavior will not be tolerated.

The bus drivers can write up the students for their behavior but can only suspend for certain violations. Some parents to not have the means to transport their students to school, the law requires them to be in school, it's a catch 22. The driver shouldn't have to be a referee; they can't spend their entire time driving with their eyes on the rear view mirror, the kids should be taught respectable behavior at home to be exercised on both the bus and in the class. During incidents on the bus though, the driver should stop the behavior not root it on if that is indeed happening.

On the subject of speeding buses,, I have our company on my cell phone on speed dial. Nothing drives me battier than a school bus speeding through a school zone! This morning I had a bus on my bumper in our very long speed zone because it encompasses our elementary school and the high school next door. I called the company right then, gave them the number so prominently displayed in my rear view window, and by the time we got to the school I could see the driver on the radio and they were suddenly 3 car lengths behind me! School buses have no business speeding whether they are full or empty.
