I'm so sorry for your loss but glad that calf had your loving care.

We were "fooled" by a calf broker 2 years ago and had a similar death and it was so rough for us to see the suffering... The poor thing didn't life a full 10 hours after he got to us....
I'm certain that the broker knew it was dying when he sold it to us.

But back to you,,, so so so sorry.

I have just discovered that "calf brokering" seems to be pretty common. I know some people that bought one here in GA, he was supposed to be a few weeks old and on grain, he died after 2 days, had scours and got dehydrated, they did everything they could, spent a bunch of money and at the very end as they were searching for a vein to get some fluids in him, discovered he still had an umbilical cord attached! This poor baby should have been on a bottle but he wasn't. Alot of these "brokers" buy up "culls" for next to nothing and say or do anything to sell them and make a profit. It is very very sad.

I am so so sorry for you, I know how it feels to lose a baby, I think they are the hardest things to lose. But you did everything you could and that baby had a good life while with you.

Sad,even worse at auction, they will give a calf a shot to get it up and walking(has to be walking to be sold),a few hours later dead.

thank you everyone. guess i just needed to vent. i'm savin up my money to buy a WEANED calf. i can't do it again. every 4 hours even for a few days equals attachment, and i can't believe how much it's bothering me.
