My Cayugas are hatching.

I was looking at your method 1 and method 2 and was considering trying the method 2 next time I set duck eggs. Doesn't taping them in make candling a bit trickier? Or do you take them out and then re-tape them.

I'll do the safe holes right now. Makes sense and yet another new tool that I have gained here.

So are ducks really that much different than chickens? I stick chickens in the incubator, narrow/pointy side down in the turner, and almost just "set it and forget it" and hit at about 90% conservatively.

Method 2 works GREAT, I'm doing it right now On 11 call duck eggs. candling yes, but what I do is I have an app on my phone called Flashlight, I can fit my phone inbetween the eggs to candle them. NO touching involved what so ever..

How are the Eggs? Never heard more on it???

No they are not, ducks just prefer being laid down, where Chickens you can put them in the turner the correct way. LOL..But temp should be the same, humidity the same.. Ducks just need more time where chickens take 21 days. but the concept of incubating eggs, pretty much all the same.

Thank you so much for all of your help. Sadly we lost not only the rest of the eggs but also the second duckling that hatched. He had a very serious infection develop that was seeping from his umbilicus. His poor little body swelled up with it, too. It was so sad.

On to a hopeful future with new eggs ... if I have already started eggs in the turner, is it safe to lay them down now? I have 3 Pekin eggs and 2 Mallard eggs, all of which are showing development.

What about goose eggs? When those get here should they be done the same as the ducks?

Thank you so very much for your help. I hate that my learning curve was harmful to that one batch of eggs but I have every intention of taking every bit of that lesson and building on it.
