My chick doesn’t like to be held

I have a chick called Pippin and whenever I pick him up or stroke him, he makes a high pitch like “scream” sound. Do I just need to get him used to being picked up and get him to trust me or shall I just not pick him up anymore so I don’t make him stressed???

Just keep doing it, being gentle and perhaps give him a meal worm or another snack so that he equates your hand with care and food He should warm up to you pretty quickly with that combination

My "he" hated being picked up from the day he emerged from the egg. Forcing it on him did nothing to improve his opinion of it.
Are you trying to make him a pet or lap chicken? What breed is he?

I think it would be a good idea if you want “him” to like being held to keep holding him, be gentle, and maybe even put some food in your hand

Well I think he is a Legbar and I don’t want him to be like a lap chicken but I just want him comfortable with me when I pick him up if something happens etc
