Ok, so I have 5 Bantam silkies and one has runny poop. All 5 are almost 3 weeks old. They have plenty of fresh water and chick starter feed. They have access to heat and clean pine shavings. The chick with runny poop seems to be eating and drinking plenty. The poop is liquid like , dark brown , and extremely smelly. Is there something wrong with our chick??

Droppings can vary day to day with chickens. If it continues you could take some collected droppings in to your vet for a fecal test, to look for worms and coccidiosis. I watch behavior more for sickness. When they act lethargic, separate themselves, or don’t eat, then something is wrong. Probiotics in the diet are good for a few days a week.

Since they guys are 3 weeks old, that is a time to watch for coccidiosis. That is treated with Corid liquid or powder in the water. Cecal poops are very smelly and like pudding. Those occur several times a day, and can be golden, brown or deep brown.

Ok, that’s exactly what my chicks poop looks like. We can’t go to the vet because of the virus and we do have some medicine we put in their water. I herd that coccidiosis comes from the chicks going outside, is that true? The chicks have never been outside.

Hoping to follow this. I did notice a poop similar to the one above. My chicks are 19 days old, never been outside.
