My chick just died Help im crying

Is this the chick that ate the pin or the chick that got water down into his trachea? Or are those the same chick? Sorry you lost the lil chick. Can you tell us how many you've lost and the circumstances? Perhaps someone can come up with a better approach to chicken care for you to follow?

I'm so sorry. Losing a bird you love rips a big hole in you. When I lose one I love, I bury it under a fruit tree if it's a big one, or in the vegetable garden if it's a tiny one, so that when I'm mourning him or her, I can think about how its remains will help the trees or the vegetables and its death will have meaning.

Hi

I'm really sorry you lost Sid.

I can only guess how much time you must have spent over the past couple of days researching threads with similar circumstances for possible treatments and trying to raise money for veterinary treatment, as I have read many of the threads you posted on. All I can say is that your effort to do everything in your power for Sid is truly commendable and he was a very lucky chick to have such a loving, caring owner, even if it was such a short life. Many do not experience such love and dedication despite living much longer.
I know none of this will help your sadness and loss, as grieving is a process that has to run it's course and crying is an important part of that...... I lost a horse recently that I loved dearly..... it still hurts, but the pain is not so sharp a few weeks later and I am learning to bear it.
Unfortunately there is one certainty in life and that is death. Everything has to go through it and grieving is something that we will all experience as a result. It doesn't seem to get any easier each time it happens but you do learn that time heals it.
I hope that you are soon able to put aside this one sad moment and remember all the happy times you had with Sid.

Sincerest sympathies :hugs

PS.
I have read of people making a plaster imprint of their chicken's feet after it died and decorating it with a few of their feathers and making it into a plaque to hang on the wall. If I remember correctly, Sid was white, so if you decided to do this, you could perhaps put some food colouring in the plaster to dye it, so that his white feathers stand out against it. Perhaps this does not appeal to you but I do know that having a memento of a loved one is comforting and having something to do when you are grieving is also helpful.... like planning a funeral for people. Perhaps getting all the things together that you will need to make such a plaque and having a trial run or two with different size and shape moulds....an empty plastic ice cream container might work well and getting the plaster consistency just right.....these will all take a little effort and focus, that might help you.

Best wishes

I have one of my horse's hooves. I bought her as a 5 month old and had her for almost 34 years. I still have her 29 yr old daughter-her one and only foal. I love the plaster imprint of the bottom of her hoof. It's in my display cabinet. It takes a while before you can look at it without overwhelming sadness, but in time it reminds you of the GOOD times you shared. You may find the same comfort.
