My chicken ate a baby bird

That's nature for you! There will always be something that's bigger than you that will want to eat you! Everything need's to eat to survive, and chickens are not strictly vegetarians. ;)
Oh I know they are omnivores, and that doesn't bother me. It is just a little disconcerting to actually see them eat a fully feathered baby bird while the parents are trying to protect it. A little different than them finding a mouse or snake.

Humans may have largely forgotten chickens descended from dinosaurs, but chickens REMEMBER.

Thank God they don't still have teeth, or talon on their wings.
Ha! I actually pointed that out to my husband last night after we saw them eat the baby bird.

My chickens killed an adult pigeon. It was in the yard. I saw two chickens, pigeon in the middle and feathers flying. They didn't eat it, just left it out there as a warning I suppose.
And mine killed and almost ate an entire dove .

I'm sure that was shocker to witness, especially the parents behavior......Chicken Yard Drama!

or talon on their wings.
Chickens do have tiny talons on their wrists.
Was a thread not long ago where it was abnormally large.
