My Chicken caught a mouse!

Who needs barn cats? One of our chickens caught a mouse today and was proud as can be, running around the yard with it!

Awesome ! , our full sized hens/ roosters do the same and any mice caught go down a treat for the older/ more curious and brave birds ( the little ones run away or jump on them to try squash them)

We have only had chickens about a year now and I was so surprised! I never thought she could be fast enough to catch a mouse and then she wanted to eat it. I ended up taking it away because I wasn't sure about get eating a mouse (disease??). But it sounds like it's okay! I'll let her keep her prize next time!
