Something attacked my chicken and an intestine has started to bulge out. She has not been bleeding and moving around fine the past 10 hours but is chirping really loud! Help I don't want to put her down:( but I don't want her to suffer any longer.

I'm sorry to hear that.

It would be really disturbing, but a picture or good description of where and how would help make a prognosis. Vets could probably help, if you have any wildlife, avian or chicken vets in the area.

What age is she? How was she attacked?

I do hope she gets better soon!

I would think the chirping is a symptom of pain. Organs can only be exposed to air for so long before they dry out and the tissue dies. The pain may be more related to broken bones or other injuries.

You can try and post pictures in the Emergencies section of the forum. But I would suggest a sober assessment as to whether you need to put the bird out of its misery if it appears to be in constant pain.

Is it possible she wasn't attacked but has prolapse instead?

Hi :welcome

I too agree with drumstick that it may be prolapse. As you have said there is no bleeding and she is moving around it does sound more prolapse than attack. A pic would be great to help you best. Also here is an article on prolapse ~ Prolapsed oviduct

Wishing you the very best of luck with her :fl

Welcome to BYC!

I'm sorry to hear you're girl is having a problem, that is so worrying when something goes wrong with our birds. I do hope you find out what is going on quickly and she will be ok.

Good luck to you.

Nice to have you here!
