No her food is always fresh. She might have eaten some moldy grass last week, but we took it out just as soon as we found it. She opens her mouth to breath

Moldy grass might have done it! Seriously I had the same thing happen with some moldy feed last year to some of my chickens. Gasping for breath- aspergillosis. Fungal pneumonia.

I don't know what to tell you for that. It is completely your choice.

Vets cost so much...it depends on if she is a beloved pet you cannot bear to see die, or whether she will be dinner next week, etc.

IF you think it is aspergillosis, there is no treatment. However, I really don't know what the problem is, and there may be a treatment for what is wrong.
