Our Ladies make that noise to if we are doing chores in the coop when they are trying to lay. I refer to it as chicken growling!

This weekend two Ladies were growling at me and a guinea hen was making it very clear that I was not needed in the coop even if I was filling the feeders. So much for a quite country morning.

It sounds like growling plus - ouch hemorhhoids. I think she is going broody too because she is moving the egg around(to keep it from you) and not leaving the box . If this is a sample of her "broodiness," you better get full armor to deal with her later.
