So I have 1 plymouth rock chicken and her name is Asteroid. Yeah not a name for a chicken, but anyways i am need of serious help and advice. So yesterday ( 6/22/12) I happened to notice her enter her coop earlier than expected. Usually my two chickens go to sleep around 5-6 (My other chicken being a Golden-Sex link), but she just went into her coop and just sat their. My other chick named Hawk-Eye was just out and about exploring my back yard. So this morning I let them out of their coop and they seemed eager to go on with their normal day. After about a half hour i look out side and i noticed that Asteroid is actually back inside of her coop. So I was very worried and at first I thought she was depressed. I feed her some of her normal food, and i thought she would be okay. But then i saw that her poop was looking odd. Through out the day she left her coop, but she was slow and seemed tired. Her poop was yellow diarrhea and she was hardly eating. I am extremely worried, please help!

If the droppings are:

greenish / yellow diarrhea - Chlamydiosis

greenish / yellow diarrhea - Cholera (acute

greenish / yellow diarrhea - Erysipelas

light yellow or yellowish green - Fowl typhoid

light yellow or yellowish green - Fowl Cholera

yellow diarrhea - Colibacillosis

yellow diarrhea - Ochratozicosis

yellow diarrhea - Streptococcosis

yellow green diarrhea with large amounts of white urates - Spirochetosis

yellow greenish diarrhea - Chlamydiosis

yellowish droppings - CRD

If she is full grown, I'd guess she ate something that has made her sick.
Here is a website that can help you with a laxative solution if you think she may have eaten something she shouldn't have.

If she is younger her symptoms match coccidiosis. Sulfadimethoxine-DiMethox, Sulmet, Corrid, and Albon are all used to treat cocci.
By the time a bird shows symptoms of illness they are very sick. Best wishes on her recovery.

So here is my chicken and what is behind his leg is actually not his poop.
My chickens poop actually looks like the bottom picture. I couldn't get a great picture because that was the best picture i could get. HELP!

Guy's i am extremely worried. I do not want to lose any chickens. I'm not sure what I should and shouldn't do. PLEASE HELP!

I would get some diatomaceous earth, available at tractor supply. Codex food grade, start adding to her grain. Thats the only thing I could suggest. Cleared my chicks of coccidiosis rapidly and I know that the DE is useful for lots of illnesses. Hope this helps. Keep us posted!

I think DE is used more as a preventative...it appears she is already sick, so probably she needs something stronger as suggested above, although I personally would start antibiotics immediately it she were my bird, give her a week to see if she gets better, then worm later when she is stronger. I hope she gets better soon!

I had a bunch of chicks that had coccidia and treated them with DE and it cleared them up without giving them corrid. I think it helps many intestinal parasites if that is what she has. Hopefully you find the problem and get treatment started.

Last night I feed her a little food and gave her some antibiotics. She is drinking a lot of water, but she isn't eating very much.
