My chicken lays eggs of poop

I've seen a few of those in the pen, too but not in the nest boxes. They look like lumps of divinity fudge or some sort of baked good dusted with powdered sugar

. Perhaps it is the poop that comes right after an egg is laid and the opening is still loose from the egg's passage or the hen just has less sphincter tone so the poop comes out larger than usual. Being suspicious I never tried to pick one up - ......

Ate you saying when you cracked open the egg poop was inside? Not sure how that would even be possible to have poop inside the shell gland where the egg is made??? Are you certain it's a egg of poop? Sounds like that poor girl is really messed up inside. The poop would actually have to be in the shell gland where the shell is made and how it would get their would be a mystery. If you look at a diagram of the laying hens reproduction process it just seems impossible. Unless she is very messed up inside!! The cloaca keeps the vaginal channel and intestinal channel seprate. Very strange indeed! I've never heard of this before!

google 'fistula'

Wow Thank you for that explanation. I never imagined that a poop egg was possible! So, what would you do in order to heal the fistula? Or is it possible to heal. I searched and understand the concept . But can't find it related to poultry. Can you provide I link so I can read about eurogenital fistula in relation to poultry? I would much appreciate it. Thank you kindly. I like to learn new things in relation to poultry. I can't find any relationship in eurogenital fistula happening in poultry. A link would be much appreciated.
