My chicken lays eggs of poop

ok guys, no shame here. i had that , not that i was pooping eggs or anything but gas would pass from the wrong place. a rip is a rip and yes, they have to stretch the skin and stitch it up. i know chickens have different plumbing as i said before and it probably is very uncommon in chickens because its from straining your muscle so hard it rips. so, has the hen been egg bound? at any time?
 
I know of no surgery for fistula in chickens.....fistula in general was presented as a theory of cause in the discussion of the poop egg situation here, and it's a good theory.....if a chicken had a uro-genital fistula that caused poo filled eggs it would likely be culled.
 
i agree aart. if it was mine im pretty sure thats what i would do. just trying to explain in laymans terms how it happens/works.

because of what happened to me caused me to think of this in the first place.
 
I understand the concept clearly it's not necessary to be explained in layman's terms. I have worked in the medical field for over 25 years. I was just wondering if their was a article with that happening in relation to poultry. I'm just curious. It must be a very rare phenomenon. I was just interested in reading about it in relation to poultry or how many instances of this happening in relation to poultry? If you can provide a link I would be greatful. Thanks kindly.also wondering what the prognosis is for the bird? And possible cause? You mentioned egg binding. Can this cause something like this to happen? I'm always trying to learn new things. Thanks for your help.

Was just a theory...no direct reference to a chicken case of fistula.

The OP hasn't been back so who knows what the scoop is?
 
My guess is that the white I saw was still part of the poop. It just so happened that it covered it entirely, looking like a shell. I didn't get down and examine it as it was "broken" from the hen stepping on part of it. I feel sorry for her. It was a huge egg shaped poop!
