The egg song? Sorry if I sound really dumb, but I had to ask, what is the egg song?

like when a hen makes that "clucking noise" before she lays an egg?

Your absolutely right. The egg song is the conglomerate of clucking a hen makes before laying an egg . usually draws on another hen or two in on it as well

I have heard of the sinks it's good method.

You can keep eggs at room temperature for months and in a cool dry place coated with olive oil even longer.
Personally I do not wash the egg in sake of keeping the bloom intact to protect the egg.
We wash before use.

Sure way to tell is if it gives a putrid odor when cracked or cooking.

One more of my Red Sex Links laid her first egg today,

small but precious! That's two of the four. I don't know if they sing, but they talk to me when I'm around. As soon as they hear me coming or hear my voice, they "talk." I'm not around when they lay their eggs, so I can't comment on the egg song.

i eant to stamp a logo or date on my eggs. is there something i should becareful. of using on an egg?
how long can an egg last after being retrieved.. either frig stored or on counter. is there a rule of thumb?
