My chicken sang the egg song!

I have a Barred rock that lays me an egg every day almost. She took Sunday off. That must have been her day of rest. She just started laying and gives me small brown eggs. Two of them together would make a good egg. I guess they start out that way. I have New Hamps that are 22 weeks and haven't laid yet.
Do not abandon hope she will produce full sized eggs soon. I have several Barred Rocks that do the same thing. They almost always lay a medium to large brown egg but now and then it is just barely the size of my thumb nail. I think they do in on purpose just to make me think someone is just starting to lay.

We are having a major thunder storm here in West Texas (have been since 4 a.m.) and all laying has been put on hold. Usually I have gathered 10-15 eggs by now from my flock of mixed girls. Today there has only been one. Guess they don't care for the banging, bombing and flashing of lightening. If they start up once the storm passes this afternoon it is going to get pretty crowded in those nest boxes.

The thought was meat chickens. How I lost my little chicken mind at the feed store! Now all my friends are asking me to help them get their laying flocks together as they are so impressed with mine, so trying to figure out which is which and which are girls is much harder than I had thought it would be.

While I wait for my chicken guy to get back to me and various chicks hatch from friends incubators. chicken math indeed.
