My chicken swallowed a long string ! help

haha yeah me either but my chicken is still kicken so i guess all is okay with her thank goodness. thanks everyone for all the help !!!

my quail chick also swallowed a pice of string and I also cut it. On day 1 it was fine, day 2 it was getting more and more passive and sitting in the corner. The stool was watery. In the evening it started to eat some termites. Day 3 it was the same and started to eat again in the evening. It also passed on load of normal stool. Today, day 4 it did not eat for the whole day. I tried to give it some water with dropper. As it had not eaten for days and it is only 2 weeks old, I dried to give some water with sugar. No change. I wonder if it will be still alive tomorrow. If it is alive I might try to give some olive oil. By the way, it has lost wait and the goiter looks swollen.

Okay my chicken swallowed a long string and half was still sticking out of his mouth but when i tried pulling it would not come out i mean it is in there so i just cut it. is this the right thing to do? please help. thanks

I know this was back in 09, but hoping you can let me know what happened to your chicken that ate a string. I got on here to ask because one of my girls ate a string tonight and came across your discussion. It was about 4 inches long, I got to her right as it disappeared

What was the outcome of your chick? Mine died in my arms yesterday morning and was lethargic and isolated for a week. Would barely eat and drink. I treated for coccidiosis. But after she died I found a big poop with bailer twine in it... I’m thinking that’s what did it. I’ll never forgive myself.

Omg in this exact situation right now. One of my hens ate some string and I’m worried. I tried pulling it but it wouldn’t budge so I cut it as close as I could. I hope she makes it 😔
