Hello everyone out there in chicken land.

This is my first time raising chickens and I am loving every minute of it and learning new things all the time. However, I have a question about my 10 twelve week old hens. They are all shaking their heads and occasionally scratching at their ears. I asked a friend that has raised chickens for years and he hadn't ever heard of it or seen it in his chickens. He suggested that I check them for mites/lice and I can't see any. He said if no bugs just to leave them alone. I have searched the Internet and have been unable to find anything on the subject. Other then shaking their heads they are happy, eat and drink well. Any suggestions or answers would be much appreciated. Also any clues/tips on checking them for pests would be helpful too - want to make sure I'm not just missing something since I'm a first timer.

I use DE in my hens dusting bath area for mites fleas and I heard it prevents worms.
