My chicken's broody, so I just gave in... (**Both Ducklings Are Out**)

LMAO... I remember that. They still play it some mornings...and I don't think we miss a morning of it!

I'm a little amazed that I still remember it. My kids are 12 & 15 but they never got into Sesame Street. I remember it from when I was a kid!!!

Yeah, one of my other silkies was plopped down on the eggs today... she decided she wanted to lay her egg with the others and moved my setting girl off. Luckily they were all still warm and I switched my mama hen back.

Keeping an eye on them at least 6x a day. My husband and I talked about moving her out of the coop, but the backup coop is cold and its an open walled tractor coop that's going to let all the weather and cold in. Its only good for summer and not for a setting chicken.

So if it happens again, we may need more options.

We're on day 9.

This is exciting. Non of my chickens go broody in fact 12 hens and only 3 eggs a day. And they have light in there for 17 hour a day. I'm ready to start over. Silly Hens!

Ok, day 13 and today I candled the eggs again. Wow, I was blown away to see 2 embryos just swimming away, wiggling and completely ALIVE!

I went ahead and made a video of the candling of all 3 eggs since we lost the 4th one.

Here's my issue now, the first egg I candled I saw no movement and what appeared to be a faint blood ring? BUT I can't say I'm for sure... its too hard to see.

Hence, I made the video. I'm uploading now, it'll be done in a few minutes. If anyone watches it and can tell me if they see the bloodring in the first one or not that would be great. I'm still new at this, and I don't want to lose anyone... I'm hoping to hatch at least 2 so if I have to bring them into the house over the winter, they'll be buddies.

Ok... wohooooo!!!!

Video should be ready shortly....

So does that first egg appear to under developed or can the blood ring be seen?!

IMO it's a little early to be sure. And you know the hen has good instincts about kicking out bad eggs. So I'd leave it there for another week and then do another comparison.

I too say let her keep sitting on them. I candled my two eggs and thought one was bad. I have two chicks now. I say let her sit on them and just wait and see. It was moving, and that's a great sign.

how cool... I love candling videos.. and I am hooked now too but haven't got room for more chickens!
